Join us as we mark the centenary of World War One, with a special event encompassing the many aspects of Brooklands’ involvement in the Great War of 1914 – 1918.
For this special event we will be gathering automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, commercial vehicles, buses and aircraft from the period up to 1919.
Although the Race Track at Brooklands was officially closed for the duration of the War, the Military Services staged some events in 1915 for the personnel and officers. We will be re-staging these races, with motorcycles of the era taking part in a slalom race at 12noon, followed by motorcycle “Race Starts” on the Finishing Straight and Members’ Banking at 3pm.
In memory of Brooklands’ role in the aviation industry we will be bringing the twin-engined Vickers Vimy replica “NX 71MY” to life, together with engine runs of the Museum’s Sopwith Camel, White Monoplane and Demoiselle aircraft.
