  • This promises to be a day like no other at the Museum as we dedicate the whole site to Brooklands’ rich and varied connection with all things aviation.

The Museum’s aircraft and cockpits will be open for visitors to explore, and outside the Wellington Hangar there will even be a chance to see and hear some of the early aircraft in action, as we fire up the engines of the Sopwith Camel, replica monoplanes, 24-litre Napier Lion aero engine of the Napier-Railton and for the first time in six years the mighty 600hp Orenda engines of the Museum’s Vickers Vimy replica.

During the day, Veterans from RAF Bomber Command will be based in the Hangar by the Museum’s Wellington Bomber to sign books and other memorabilia or just to meet and chat to. Over by the Shell Pagoda youngsters under 5 will be able to ride pedal-driven model aeroplanes and the Museum’s Learning Team will be laying on everything needed in a fantastic workshop for youngsters wishing to build their own model biplanes.
